The Office of Research Faculty Development Series (FDS) is a broad curriculum designed to educate WSU Faculty in many aspects of successful proposal development and sponsored project management. Successful grantsmanship and project management take planning, perseverance and a solid knowledge of the rules and regulations. To unlock the potential to fund research, scholarly and creative activities at WSU, the Office of Grant and Research Development (OGRD) offers thorough education for WSU faculty. The FDS Series will keep WSU faculty competitive, not only in writing but in the broader aspects of proposal development, from idea generation to program implementation and research compliance. The Office of Research Assurances (ORA) will complement the FDS with important, timely compliance topics. The long-term health of any research enterprise requires a solid foundation of well funded new and experienced faculty. Training in proposal development and project management is an art and a skill essential to such success. Learning and applying the principles of good grantsmanship will produce clear and compelling proposals which will result in early funding and successful management. Faculty who have learned to write for maximal clarity and precision, are successful and will begin and continue to grow a reputable career. This is the basis for a strong and flourishing research program in the university.
