11-June-2001 meeting - items discussed:
- Kathleen Smith-Meadows, Associate Director of ASP presented a quick overview of ASP. Administration of Scientific Personnel (ASP) is under contract with the Inland Northwest Research Alliance (INRA) to recruit and hire temporary employees who will work in research and development initiatives at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratories (INEEL). These research and development professionals work at the INEEL site, but are employed as faculty at Washington State University. They hold the privileges and responsibilities of Washington State University employees. ASP is part of the Office of Grant and Research Development at Washington State University, a member of the INRA consortium.
- There is a position posted for Finance/Budget Manager, School Of Biological Sciences.
- Subcontracts: Effective Immediately, a separate account (project) number will be assigned for each subcontract. These accounts will be linked as a sub-account to WSU's prime account, which will enable summarization using the new award summary feature on Account Balances. The following objects and sub-objects have been authorized for use on subcontracts. Please note that additional Sub-objects will be added as required.

- Proposal Deadlines: It is essential that OGRD receive proposal in a timely manner. The Business Policy Manual states that proposals should be received by OGRD one week in advance. In the last three days of May, 46 proposals were submitted through OGRD. Of these proposals 13 were received at OGRD on the 30th to be sent out on the 31st, and 15 were received on the 31st to be sent out on the 31st. That is a total of 28 proposals submitted on the 31st. With this volume in one day, it is next to impossible to give each proposal a complete review, or to guarantee that all of them will be packed to meet the Federal Express deadline.
- Denise Faerber, along with Mary Hoffman completed the Budgeting for Sponsored Projects I and II classes last week. There was excellent attendance for these classes. The upcoming classes are Life Cycle of a Sponsored Project on June 27, 2001, and Proposal Submission, Review and Acceptance on July 11, 2001.
- As of June 1, 2001, WSU is signing all NSF Fastlane proposals electronically. However, this does not change the internal proposal submission process.
- All Material Transfer Agreements come through OGRD for official signature. In order to help facilitate this process, OGRD is asking all faculty to complete the electronic form which can be found at the following web address: http://www.ogrd.wsu.edu/mta.asp
- The next RAG meeting is scheduled for July 9, 2001 at 9:00 am.
