11-March-2002 meeting - items discussed:

- Denise is now GONE. (Emphasis added because of sadness).
- Andrea Comley has taken her place – welcome Andrea!
- Grant Morton is still out on shared leave and we hope he can come back soon!!
- Discussed the Faculty salary augmentation policy, which is now in a draft stage that Barry Johnston developed and that Dan reviewed. Barry and Dan will be meeting with the AG's office to make sure this passes muster with them.

March 28th's "OGRD Seminar Series" topic will be about the frequently asked questions related to intellectual property. Dr. Leona Fitzmaurice and her staff will be a panel that will present this information to the faculty and graduate students.

Status of the fixed price agreement policy - still in Glenn's office.

Dan updated the group on the application for the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP). Dan has filled out part of the application and requested assistance from the Research Admin. Group about another topic:
- The Description of possible Phase IV demonstration and pilot projects including the problem or burden to be addressed, suggested methods/approaches, ways to assess the impact, and expected benefits." Mary Hoffman provided information regarding the effort certification issue.
- Your feedback is requested by March 18th. In the meantime, I will be working on a draft of the Institutional support letter.

OGRD Director's search - down to two candidates and interviews will be held at the end of March and the first part of April.

SPS Director's search - down to two candidates, Mary Hoffman and Brian Farmer and the time frame is the same.

When budgeting for subcontracts, the policy is now the following: For ON-campus related projects charge 45% of the first $25,000 for any subcontracts. For OFF-campus projects charge 26% of the first $25,000 for any subcontracts.

Excess compensation - no exceptions will be given to this policy.

A question came up about budgeting for QTR - Do we need to increase the inflation factor. The answer is NO. You can continue to use the 5% rate increase which should be sufficient for any tuition hikes according to the information that I have gathered from the Office of Research.

Dan shared about his plans for eRA and involving the use of web data-base driven applications that are secure.

F&A Agreement - Barry is oh so close.

Andrea discussed some new rules about the faculty being required to communicate in their grant proposals for NIH whether they are able to share the data developed from a project.
