OGRD News:

- Christy Gilchrist has filled Andrea Comley's position as Grant and Contract Specialist. You may contact her for status questions at christy@ogrd.wsu.edu or 5-1672.
- Dan shared about the plan to implement electronic document imaging, SQL database technology for proposal, award, and account setup, access to the database for status checks, etc.
- The "OGRD Seminar Series" will start up again in September. The first three started off very well and we look forward to bringing topics up such as A-21 and A-110, Roles and Responsibilities, and other Training and Education possibilities.
- Status of the fixed price agreement policy - in Barry's office. Provided some background to the policy and some of the points - important that work be completed and expenses charged to show correct effort to these projects. We do not want to over-budget or under-budget these projects, especially as an organization organized not-for-profit.
- The University DID submit an FDP application and this was a joint effort by both Business Affairs and the Office of Grant and Research Development. In addition, I want to recognize the input on the application from Marilyn Burns, Mary Hoffman, and Tom Martin - Thanks so much!! Just after the RAG meeting I was notified that our application was approved and we start an introductory meeting in September 2002. Dan and Jim Petersen (or his designee) will attend to find out the FDP vision and plan and understand our role in the partnership.
- SPS Director's search - the search process will start over again.
- The F&A Agreement is complete - No questions came up.
- Dan shared from the meeting he attended in Seattle at the UW. NIH, UW, and Group Health participated in a proactive site visit where individuals from NIH visited various groups on campus and ended the site visit with a Training and Education seminar. In response to this seminar, we modified our website that shows a link to COMPLIANCE. This link will provide information regarding non-regulatory and regulatory compliance on various aspects of research administration.
- Dan shared about the Patent/Copyright obligations of WSU employees to Washington State University. He developed a packet of information that communicates the policies and procedures as well as state and federal rules and regulations that determine the correct rights. See the attached PDF file.
- Sean Lyons is working on the information and location for our next meeting which will be scheduled for June 10th, 2002.
