2. Contracting Officer Tip-Letter of Support (A. Comley was unable to attend the meeting)

3. Mandatory Training & Education (D. Nordquist)

Dr. Petersen noted that the NSF Office of the Inspector General has recently communicated to him that mandatory training of faculty will be required starting in the fall.  The program that WSU is envisioning will be modeled after that deployed at Stanford University, and will include PI responsibilities, including conflict of interest, laboratory and grant management, use of humans and animals in research, use of DNA, and GMO's in research, etc.  The training will require a minimal amount of time, and will point researchers to resources for additional information.

4. WSU's NIH and NSF Proposal Success Rates (D. Nordquist)

Please review the Gateway in order to see information on proposal success rates.

5. Award Projection Reports (D. Nordquist)

The award projections for FY 05 look down.

6. Cost Sharing (NSF Policy) (D. Nordquist)

Cost-sharing -- "So the bottom line is, our [NSF] policy says that cost sharing should only be put into the proposal when it is specifically requested in an NSF solicitation. Period. It should not be offered otherwise". Beth Strausser NSF Policy Analyst, NSF Policy Office.

7. NSF Regional Grants Conference

The regional grants conference will be held in October 2005.

8. RAC One Day Retreat

OGRD is proposing a one day retreat for the RAC community members. The one day retreat will consist of bring our research administrators together at the Pullman , campus for one day of interactive meetings and sessions. Research administrators can gather information from special sessions of interest as well as from their peer administrators. If this is of interest please contact Dan Nordquist at OGRD, nordquist@wsu.edu .

9. OGRD Updates

Monthly items of interest and information related to current research activities of interest will be routed to the RAC community.

SRA handouts that have been made available by those who attended can be forwarded to Wendy Wikstrom at OGRD, email wwikstrom@wsu.edu for posting to the OGRD website.
