1 . NIH changes to PHS 398

All forms have changed, effective May 10. Be sure to go to the website and make sure you are using the latest forms. (Jennifer Jansen)

2. Validation process – grants.gov

PI's will no longer need to validate an NIH Proposal that has been submitted via Grants.gov. There will only be the requirement for the PI to review the proposal. If the PI chooses not to review the proposal, Commons will finish the validation process after 2 days. (Jennifer Jansen)

4 . NIH changes to PHS 424 R& R

When preparing to upload proposals, it is suggested that the 424 form be done first. Research plan will need to be done in WORD and then cut/paste each section into a separate WORD documents, title the section and convert to PDF before loading into the appreciate section of the research plan in the Grants.gov application file. 5. NIH changes regarding signature requirement

As of May 10, 2006, PHS 398 & 2590 forms will no longer have a signature box for Principal Investigators. NIH no longer requires the PI to sign, but the University must maintain an original signature on file.(Jennifer Jansen)

6. Revised REX form – effective May 10, and available on the OGRD website. The new form includes a statement before the signature line that meets the requirement for the new NIH regulation for the University maintaining an original PI signature on file. (Jennifer Jansen)

7. Subcontracts located in the Gateway – Effective May 1, OGRD has begun logging subcontracts into the Gateway. The subcontracts will be logged with the OGRD # first, then 00G00____. Contract amendments will now be logged A-Z, rather than with numbers. Images are available for viewing and/or printing. (Jennifer Jansen)
