11-September-2000 meeting - items discussed:
- Dan updated the RAG group on a new computer person hired at OGRD in a
fulltime position instead of filling graduate student positions. OGRD hired Monte Sutton who will be helping in the electronic research administration of the OGRD office. We also briefly discussed an on-line REX form - which will come up in future meetings.
- Dan updated the group as to the hiring of a Grant/Contract Coordinator position to fill the vacancy left by Gabrielle Enfield. Since our meeting, we have hired Grant Morton who comes from UI. Grant has submitted grants, worked with federal agencies, written agreements, and negotiated agreements so we will be happy to have him start on Oct. 23rd.
- The OGRD monthly reports are being completed now that we have Monte and hopefully should be out soon.
- There was discussion of NIH's Modular Grants with revised guidelines that are well outlined in the following url: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-00-046.html
- Reminder: All proposals to NSF must be submitted via FastLane as of 01-October-2000. OGRD will be putting on a FastLane Workshop on October 10th.
- Update on the F&A proposal - 22 of 24 database files have been submitted so Doyle can analyze them from DMG Maximus. Vince is working on the cost-sharing information while Aldrich is working on property information. There was one department that has yet to submit their space survey. John Daly is working on the revised DSII and will be presenting that to the University community for input.
- Dan Nordquist and Leona Fitzmaurice are re-writing the standard research agreement so the University and the Intellectual Property office will be better protected.
- Dan appreciated the feedback related to the Office of Research Integrity's(ORI) Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) policy in which George Hedge responded.
- Joan brought us up to date on SPFO activities. Denise Blacker and Steven Lee have been hired. Nancy McMahon will be visiting the UW to attend one of their required Faculty Training sessions to see what it entails. Joan said that SPFO needs budgets for Modular Grant awards. Joan also said that the A/R system is fixed for those departments who monitor billings on accounts. A reminder to help our faculty get their final technical reports and progress reports done. SPFO is doing their best to get invoices and reports out on time as well as improving account set-up.
Our next meeting is scheduled for October 9th at 9:00 am.
